Mr. Hewitt's practice involves personal injury defense and civil trial law. Mr. Hewitt was an associate with McLeod, Alexander, Powel & Apffel, P.C. from 1985 to 1992, and again joined the Firm in 2005. He has extensive experience handling personal injury and property damage cases, including industrial plant accidents, premises liability, products liability, Wrongful Death and Survival Act cases, and motor vehicle accidents, including tractor trailer rig and railroad crossing cases. In addition, he has represented companies and individuals involved in commercial and business litigation, including breach of contract and warranty cases, and DTPA and fraud cases. He also has experience in construction litigation (commercial and residential) representing general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors. Mr. Hewitt also has defended companies involved in toxic tort litigation (asbestos and silica) and defended insurance carriers involved in coverage disputes and “bad faith” claims. Mr. Hewitt was an Assistant District Attorney for the Galveston County District Attorney’s office from 1980 to 1983.
