Mr. Apffel was one of the original founders of the Firm. Prior to the creation of the Firm, he served as a felony prosecutor in the District Attorney's office in Galveston County. After approximately four years in the District Attorney's office, he became the first full-time City Attorney for the City of Galveston, serving in that capacity for approximately four years. It was during his tenure as City Attorney that Mr. Apffel, Boo McLeod, Robert Alexander, and Ben Powel formed the Firm. Having practiced as a four-man law firm for a number of years, the Firm has grown to its current size of 30 lawyers, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in all types of litigation.
Not only does Mr. Apffel have a criminal and municipal law background, but he also specializes in civil litigation. Mr. Apffel is most proud of the fact that he has been selected by Trial Lawyers in the State of Texas to become a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has vast experience in the trial of insurance defense, real estate litigation, asbestos litigation, employment law, medical malpractice, product liability and insurance coverage litigation for both insureds and insurers. Mr. Apffel is also a certified mediator.
